NVIDIA Driver Problems: Issues with Refresh Rates and Screen Resolutions

Reported Issues:

  • Refresh Rate Problems: After updating to driver version 560.70, many games are unable to utilise the full range of refresh rates supported by monitors.
  • Resolution Issues: Users are experiencing difficulties when trying to select higher refresh rates within the game's display settings.
  • Increased Latency: Some users have also reported increased output latency.

Developer's Explanation:

NVIDIA developers have acknowledged these issues, stating that the new drivers now only display timing configurations that the monitor natively supports. This change has led to unexpected problems for users who were accustomed to having a broader range of refresh rate options.

Temporary Solution:

To revert to the desired refresh rates, users can follow these steps in the NVIDIA Control Panel:

  1. Open the NVIDIA Control Panel.
  2. Go to "Adjust desktop size and position."
  3. In the "Perform scaling on" menu, select "GPU."
  4. Apply the changes to save the settings.

By making these adjustments, users should be able to regain access to the appropriate refresh rates for their monitors. However, it is advisable to avoid updating the drivers until NVIDIA releases a patch to comprehensively address these issues.
