HooXi on G2's kick: "I was disappointed. I had little hope that I would stay on the team"

Former G2 Counter-Strike 2 captain Rasmus "HooXi" Nielsen commented on his removal from the team in an interview with HLTV.org. The Danish esports player explained the emotions he felt upon learning of the decision and reflected on his experience with G2.

"I was disappointed [when I found out about G2's decision]. In London, I was told that they were considering other options, but nothing was final, so I held onto a sliver of hope that I might stay, especially since the decision took so long. <...>

My time in G2 was a real roller coaster in many ways. I don’t particularly regret anything because I gave my all for two years and did what I thought was best at the time when it was needed. Looking back, I wish I could have been better in many areas, but it's not a feeling of regret. The cost was the losses and, ultimately, my place in the team, but the gain was the knowledge and experience."

Additionally, HooXi discussed his prospects. Rasmus acknowledged that it will be challenging to find a worthy team immediately but is determined not to give up.

"I think it will be really hard to find a new team right away since G2's decision came so late. I will try to see this as an opportunity to work on myself, both in-game and out of it, because it's hard to maintain a good balance in life, especially as a captain, at least in the way I have done it so far.

My main priority is victory and success in CS. I can't say if I will have a choice [of teams], but I've been benched before, and it was one step back and five steps forward."

A few days ago, Janusz "Snax" Pogorzelski became the new captain of the G2 Counter-Strike 2 roster. The Polish esports player took HooXi's place, with the German club moving Nielsen to the bench. Nielsen has been with G2 since August 2022.
