ZywOo: "I don't want to be a superstar"

Vitality's sniper, Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut, spoke about his relationship with the staff of the French club Vitality, under whose flag he has been competing for nearly six years. In an interview with HLTV, Herbaut also confessed that fame and recognition do not bring him joy.

"These are no longer just people I work with. They are more like friends, and it’s great to have them at my back.

I don’t care about being a superstar because, in the end, they are all just my friends. They don’t see me as ZywOo—for them, I am Mathieu Herbaut, and that’s why I like them. Every time I see their smiles, I’m just happy to see them.

When I play, I don’t feel anything because I know what I’m doing. I’m more afraid of speaking in front of people than playing."

ZywOo also answered a question about how he envisions his future once he has to end his career as a professional Counter-Strike player.

"I live for today, not thinking about the future or what I will do, whether I will be a coach or a manager. I’m just enjoying the moment."

Last month, HLTV summarised the results of the first season of 2024 in competitive Counter-Strike. Mathieu was recognised as one of the best players for the first half of 2024.
