Falcons' Counter-Strike 2 coach Danny "zonic" Sørensen reflected on his coaching career, noting that he has never had a successful first year with any of his teams, but remarked that this year with Falcons has been the worst in his career. He shared his thoughts in an interview with the organisers of BLAST Premier Fall Final 2024.
"I’ve never had a successful first year with any of my teams. I often think about it and try to improve because I would love to have a 'honeymoon period' with a team. I think we managed to achieve that when Magisk joined Astralis, but the first nine months with Astralis were a disaster. The same happened with Vitality, and now it’s happening with Falcons. For me, it’s more of a tradition that the first year is always very tough.
I also think it’s linked to the fact that the sports psychologist and I are trying to implement a system. It takes time and requires players to accept it. At the start, it can feel a bit overwhelming, but history shows there’s always light at the end of the tunnel.
So, I’m not too worried about my abilities because I know myself, but this year has been one of the worst in my coaching career. However, it’s also the first time I’m building something from scratch. Usually, I join already established teams, both from a gameplay and cultural perspective, but here we are creating everything from the ground up."
