Smooya: "This is my project, and if it fails, it will be on my conscience"

British esports player Owen "smooya" Butterfield spoke about his new team, which he formed under the organisation Into the Breach, in an interview with BLAST.tv. According to Butterfield, the club gave him complete carte blanche in assembling the new roster.

"At first, I didn't want to get involved, but then I realised that this is my project, and if it fails, it will be on my conscience. If Into the Breach doesn't achieve results, and we don't make it to LAN tournaments, it will be my fault. It's not the organisation's fault; they gave me full freedom. We'll see what comes of it."

Smooya also shared the team's initial goals. In the short term, Into the Breach hopes to participate in small online tournaments and qualifiers.

"This is a long-term project because we can't make it to a major due to the new ridiculous rules, but we just need to gradually climb the ladder and make it to some tournaments. These random online qualifiers, where you can get into Cologne or ESL Challenger – those kinds of events.

First, we need to get into one of these tournaments, then start doing it regularly, then win one, and then keep moving up."

Earlier, there was a rumour that 20-year-old Jordanian Mohammad "BOROS" Malhas might become the final member of the new Counter-Strike 2 roster for Into the Breach. According to the source, BOROS is currently being tested along with ITB players.
