Professional CS2 player Owen "smooya" Butterfield mocked players who buy expensive skins. He shared his opinion following the recent update that changed certain knife patterns.
"Haha, it's funny to imagine the faces of people who bought a knife because they liked the color, only to wake up and see their knife looks like crap now."
Shortly before this, smooya retweeted a clip from streamer ArrowCS's broadcast. In the video, the content creator compared the best Karambit Case Hardened, priced at $1.5 million, with different versions of the same knife with a Gamma Doppler pattern, which are 500 times cheaper.
In the early hours of May 24, Valve released an update for CS2, introducing a skin rental feature from the case and significantly altering the Vertigo map. Furthermore, the developers made several balance changes, including adjustments to the in-game economy. However, the patch notes did not mention the adjustments to some knife patterns, which upset players.
