Perfect World director about the major in Shanghai: “We are thinking about holding the first two stages with spectators”

Archer Wan, the director of Perfect World, shared his thoughts on hosting the second Counter-Strike 2 Major in China. The head of the tournament organizer noted that he would strive to ensure that players feel comfortable at the Shanghai Major 2024. He shared his thoughts in an interview with the portal HLTV.org.

"The Major is important for the Asian market. Our goal is to attract more and more Asians, more and more Chinese to Counter-Strike. <...> We are considering holding the first two stages of the Major with spectators. <...>

The Chinese community is deeply passionate about many players. We must give players more opportunities to interact with everyone — take photos and give autographs. Of course, provided that it does not affect the player's lives and if they agree to it themselves. We do not want teams to be dissatisfied; we want to provide them with all the amenities. We want them to feel comfortable not only at the Major but also while walking around the city. We want players to feel that Shanghai is hospitable to them."

The Shanghai Major 2024 matches will take place from December 1st to 15th at a LAN venue in Shanghai, China. Fourteen teams will compete for a prize pool of $1.25 million. At the time of publication, it is unknown which specific stadium the championship will be held in.
