ESL has explained its stance on the technical loss given to Heroic for using Snap Tap.
On 29th August, every team was informed of the new rules. During the media day, tournament organisers reminded each player from every team about the new ESL Pro League rules for this season and required them to sign a document confirming their understanding of the rules, the penalties that could be applied, and their agreement to the consequences. Every player from each team signed the document.
Failure to comply with the rules can result in a loss or, in the worst-case scenario, disqualification. ESL mentioned that they have tools to detect the use of Snap Tap, Rappy Snappy, SOCD, or similar functions. Each potential incident will be reviewed and assessed individually, according to their statement.
Yesterday, on 3rd September, ESL awarded a technical loss to Heroic on the first map of their match against NiP due to Teses using Snap Tap. As a result, the Danish team lost the series 1-2. The player acknowledged his mistake, stating that he hadn't realised the function was enabled.
