Renowned American cyber athlete Nicholas "nitr0" Cannella has officially joined the NRG roster for Counter-Strike 2. Cannella has replaced Colby "Walco" Walsh as the team's captain. The Canadian player, in turn, has left the organisation and become a free agent. The announcement was made on NRG's social media page on X.
Walco has been representing NRG since March of this year. During his tenure, the team participated in various regional competitions, including the ESL Challenger League Season 47 North America, where NRG placed 5th-6th, missing out on a spot in the 20th season of the Pro League.
It's worth noting that since January of this year, nitr0 has been part of the M80 organisation in the VALORANT discipline. He recently announced his return to the professional CS scene. Previously, nitr0 had switched between disciplines: in 2020, he moved to VALORANT under the banner of 100 Thieves but returned to CS in 2021 to play for Liquid.
In joining NRG, Cannella has reunited with his former teammates Joshua "oSee" Ohm and Damian "daps" Steele, with whom he previously competed under the Liquid flag.
Current NRG roster:
- Joshua "oSee" Ohm
- Vincent "Brehze" Cayonte
- Jadan "HexT" Postma
- Timothy "autimatic" Ta
- Nicholas "nitr0" Cannella
Coach: Damian "daps" Steele
