NEO: "A win like this is a huge boost"

FaZe's Counter-Strike 2 coach, Filip "NEO" Kubski, commented on his team's recent match against Liquid, which secured them a spot in the playoffs of IEM Cologne 2024. In an interview with HLTV, the Polish coach expressed that this victory will boost the team's confidence heading into the final stage of the championship.

"It was a real rollercoaster. Starting with Nuke, we should have won—we had a 5v3 situation that we lost. I was very angry after losing on Nuke because that map should have been ours. But the mood in the team was fine. Everything was good, the guys were laughing, so I stepped aside and didn’t even say anything.

We moved on to Mirage, and everyone knows how it started. It was another unexpected beginning. The score was 1-11. It was a disastrous half for us. Surprisingly, the mood wasn’t terrible. The guys started laughing a bit. At that moment, I wasn’t in the mood for jokes. But yes, I had to go with the flow. Funny enough, everyone believed, you know? We feel like we’re playing very good CS. It was a small mistake on Nuke, or, actually, a huge one. In the end, we won, and that’s all that matters.

I think we’ve already seen a bit of FaZe magic, especially in this game. We’ve significantly improved our gameplay. We’re playing good CS here, but I think a win like this is a huge boost. The competition is tough. NAVI is very consistent, and a great team. G2 is showing impressive results. And Vitality and MOUZ always play very good CS. So it won’t be easy, but a win like this gives us extra confidence, I think."

FaZe secured their spot in the final stage of IEM Cologne 2024 in Counter-Strike 2. In the lower bracket final of Group A, Kubski’s team defeated Liquid 2-1. Before that, FaZe had eliminated Falcons from the tournament.
