Captain of the BetBoom Team Counter-Strike 2 roster, Vladislav "nafany" Gorshkov, has once again commented on the team's participation in the Skyesports Championship 2024. He explained that initially, the team was indifferent to the poor conditions. However, on 23rd July, BetBoom Team withdrew from the championship. Gorshkov shared his thoughts in an interview for the HLTV.org podcast.
“Most teams came to the tournament to earn RMR points, but we accepted the invitation not for that reason, as the invite came before the Valve ranking was introduced.
We came here to compete, not for RMR points. We were promised good PCs and good monitors, but when we arrived, we were told we’d be playing on Odyssey monitors. Even then, we thought, "Well, fine, it’s all good, we’re just ordinary Russian guys."
When we arrived at the practice rooms and saw the tables... Just imagine the tables you touch... They’re just wooden tables. They’re not tournament tables; they’re just wood.
When we realised we would be playing on the worst computers, i5-13400F, while other teams had i7s, we asked, "How can we play on such rubbish when others have proper PCs?" We were told, "Oh, sorry, if you want better PCs, you’re out of luck."
The Skyesports Championship 2024 is taking place from 23rd to 28th July. The tournament features 12 teams competing for $300,000, with the winner earning $120,000.
