Nafany: "As a team, we spent the season 3 out of 5"

Captain of BetBoom Team, Vladislav "nafany" Gorshkov, reflected on his team's performance in the first half of 2024, describing it as "satisfactory" overall. However, he acknowledged that his statistics had suffered during the past season. He shared his thoughts on these matters in a personal post on his Telegram channel:

"Chapter one.

Let's start with ESL Pro League. It was one of the few tournaments where we had a decent preparation and achieved satisfactory results. The only downside was our loss against FlyQuest, but overall, we drew valuable conclusions.

Chapter two.

After the league, we had four consecutive tournaments, and due to the tight schedule, we didn't have enough opportunities to prepare properly. Again, lack of preparation doesn't justify the expected results. With our established base, our team should aim for 1st place at tournaments like CST. However, it's much easier when you play well-prepared.

This was a lengthy lead-in to answering the question 'Why did your team finish last at the home tournament?', and now let's get to that. So, in our group, we played against Mouz and Falcons. Both games could have been won, but we lacked composure at times, and sometimes it was indeed about preparation. If you look at the scores, they were close on all maps except Nuke. Overall, the result doesn't justify it, but it should give you clarity.

Chapter three.

And here's the final tournament of our season, Yalla Compas. We prepared extensively for this tournament compared to previous ones—four whole days (there could have been more, but circumstances beyond our control). The tournament format was unconventional, which I liked. Watching group stages in this format was more interesting and engaging. We showed good CS at the tournament. It felt like we could win the entire thing. But in a close BO3 against Astralis, they came out stronger, and we were just a little short. But that's the game, and therein lies the strongest part of it.

Final thoughts.

Summing up, I want to touch on the topic of my statistics. Obviously, in this regard, the season was a failure. I care about it, I want to play well. And I'm confident I will. As a team, we ended the season at 3/5, but it's a process. Hard work pays off, and all it takes is belief in your teammates.

P.S. To everyone who has supported and continues to support our team, thank you so much. It means a lot, and we promise to make every effort to make you proud of our team."

Previously, a Russian esports player also discussed whether fans of the team should expect any roster changes in BetBoom Team's Counter-Strike 2 lineup soon. Gorshkov urged fans to stay tuned for news.
