Maniac apologizes for inappropriate behaviour

Analyst Mathieu "Maniac" Keiser, who has recently faced allegations of sexual harassment, has made an official statement regarding the situation. Keiser issued an apology and attributed his inappropriate behaviour to issues with alcohol and a troubled childhood.

"In recent days, I have had to confront my deepest fears and face my most terrifying demons. I have struggled with alcohol for most of my adult life. I have tried various ways to regain control, but at different times I have failed. I am ashamed of my weakness, which has plagued me for many years. I can no longer ignore it.

Alcohol amplifies my self-doubt, my need for casual sexual encounters, the desire to be seen and wanted, because a part of me is broken and feels unworthy. I was broken in childhood, and I hope that one day I will have the strength to deal with it courageously. This has led to unacceptable behaviour over many years, for which I am truly sorry.

Social media allowed me to cowardly distance myself from interacting with people as if nothing had happened. It was an escape. I never wished harm to anyone and always tried to treat people with the respect and attention they deserve. I tried to fill the void pathetically and destructively. I need time to reassess my life, and understand who I am and who I want to be. I have let down people who are very dear to me, I have let down this community, and I have let down myself."

The Swiss analyst added that he is prepared to face consequences for his actions and promised to release a video apology at a later date.

It is worth noting that both tournament organisers PGL and BLAST have chosen to sever ties with Maniac in light of the sexual harassment allegations. ESL has promised to conduct its own investigation into the matter. Maniac has already been removed from the broadcast of ESL Pro League Season 20.
