MalbsMd: "I never expected to receive an offer from G2"

Newly minted member of G2's roster, Mario "malbsMd" Samayoa, revealed in an interview with HLTV that originally he had no plans to leave his previous team, M80, until he received an offer from G2. malbsMd recalled a conversation with his former coach, Rory "dephh" Jackson, where he firmly stated his intention to stay with M80.

"Rory [dephh] approached me and said, 'Mario, you know you're playing well, people will be watching you; they'll counter you; you might get offers during the off-season.'

And I replied, 'Yes, I understand and I'm waiting for that, but I have no plans to leave you guys under any circumstances.' But everything changed in a moment. G2 knocking on your door isn't an everyday thing. I never expected an offer from G2."

The Guatemalan esports athlete also discussed his initial training sessions with G2 and the process of adapting to his new role.

"I won't lie, everything is going great for me [laughs]. Here's what I'll say. I'm doing great, even better than I expected. I'm surprised at how well it's going.

There are some habits, for example, you have the opportunity to peek connector [on Mirage], but you can't do that while holding A on Ancient. I still have some habits, but I feel like I'm making fewer mistakes... I'm not perfect, but I haven't made as many mistakes as other people transitioning from a star player role to a support position. I'm doing well, and I'm genuinely surprised."

It's worth noting that Samayoa officially joined G2's roster at the end of last month, replacing Nemanja "nexa" Isaković, who in turn moved to BLEED. Additionally, the club recently introduced their new captain, Janusz "Snax" Pogorzelski.
