MalbsMd: "I don't want to be a super passive player again"

Mario "malbsMd" Samayoa, a member of G2, shared insights on his adaptation to the new team in an interview with Pley.gg. The Guatemalan esports player mentioned that he feels much more comfortable playing aggressively.

"On the first day, TaZ told me I would be a support player. At M80, I played aggressive roles and even mentioned in an HLTV interview that it was fine. I’ve played support roles before, but I don’t want to be stuck on the B-site on Mirage, for example. I don’t want to become a super passive player again because I had that role in other teams, and it was a bad experience. People thought I was a bad player, but those weren’t my roles. Now, I feel more comfortable. Being a star rifler would be better, but I don’t mind. I’m playing in positions where I can be in the thick of the action, and that’s good."

Samayoa also reflected on the experience gained from his previous team. He noted that he is not playing as well as he did at M80 yet but sees progress.

"I learned a lot from my past. Now, I’m a more experienced player. I’ve grown significantly, so transitioning from shining in M80 to these roles, I think I can handle it well, and it’s fine. I’m playing well – not as brilliantly as in M80, but it’s just the beginning, and I’m adjusting. I feel like I can handle everything."

G2 will begin their participation in the BLAST Premier Fall Groups 2024 on July 31. The championship will take place in Copenhagen, Denmark, from July 29 to August 4, featuring 16 teams. The event’s prize pool is $190,000. G2 is in the same group as Cloud9, FaZe, and NIP.
