G2 player Mario "malbsMd" Samayoa shared his expectations for the upcoming match against NAVI for a spot in the ESL Pro League Season 20 finals. Samayoa expressed his desire for revenge after their loss at the Esports World Cup 2024. He discussed this in an interview with HLTV.
"There are already plenty of memes about this matchup – G2 losing 0:8 or something like that in head-to-head encounters. We just want to change that statistic, try to secure our first victory, and I believe that if we beat NAVI, we have every chance of performing well in the finals. So yes, I’m just hoping for the best tomorrow.
[Would it be nice to get revenge for the EWC?] Yes, of course, that would be incredible, just superb."
Samayoa also reflected on whether he and his teammates could become the top team on the professional Counter-Strike 2 scene.
"Of course, but it’s very difficult. I believe we have a really good team, and we’re strong individually. For example, myself, m0NESY, NiKo, huNter-, even Snax – we are strong as a group and as individual players. We need to stop messing up in easy situations that we sometimes find ourselves in and just play CS, because if we do that, we can become really, really good."
