In an interview with HLTV.org, G2 player Mario "malbsMd" Samayoa commented on his team’s landslide loss to Liquid on the first map of their group stage match at the BLAST Premier World Final 2024. G2 suffered a 0:13 defeat on Ancient but ultimately secured a 2:1 victory in the series, advancing to the tournament's playoffs.
"It was a bit strange. We chose the attacking side, which we never do, so we couldn’t get into the game, you know? Our performance on the T-side wasn’t our best. We handed them the whole map. They controlled mid every round and had A site, so it was easy for them, I’d say. In the end, let’s just pretend it didn’t happen. We won 2:0 (laughs)."
The Guatemalan esports player also shared his thoughts on the upcoming match against their next opponent.
"It’ll be a good match since it’s not NAVI, you know? Jokes aside, they’re a really strong team. We’ve played against Team Spirit a lot but only faced Vitality once, so it should be a great game.
Unfortunately, Vitality has a stand-in, but I think they’ll still perform well. They’re very strong individually, so I’m just waiting to see who wins. I don’t mind either way."
The BLAST Premier World Final 2024 takes place from 30 October to 3 November in Singapore, with a prize pool of one million dollars shared among eight teams. G2 will face Team Spirit, on 31 October, in their playoff match for a spot in the semifinals.
