Boris "magixx" Vorobyov, a member of Team Spirit in Counter-Strike 2, explained why the team sometimes shows less than stellar results in tournaments. Magixx shared his thoughts with HLTV.org.
"I can say that we lose matches not because of poor gameplay, preparation, or style. We lose matches only because of some mental crap. It's not about our ideas and rounds, how we play, or the amount of practice.
The issue is not with that. The reason lies in how you approach the crucial game, and how mentally prepared you are. That day was unlucky for us [losing to MOUZ at BetBoom Dacha CS2 Belgrade 2024]."
Vorobyov also explained why Team Spirit lost to Natus Vincere a couple of times. In his opinion, the opponents simply got lucky.
"Now we play Counter-Strike 2 better than NAVI. The two maps they won: Anubis in Katowice and Nuke at the Major — it's just luck. They were lucky."
Team Spirit defeated Natus Vincere in the upper bracket semifinal of Group B at IEM Dallas 2024 in CS2. The match ended with a score of 2:0 — 13:4 on Ancient and 13:8 on Nuke. Vorobyov's team advanced to the tournament playoffs.
