M0NESY: "I always wanted to play in NAVI"

G2 Esports player Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov shared that he once dreamed of joining NAVI's main Counter-Strike roster. Osipov added that he has no regrets about joining G2.

"I was invited to NAVI’s academy. I didn’t really have a clear vision of where I wanted to play, but once I got the invite to NAVI, my dream was to make it into the main roster. That was my goal – to become better. It just happened that I ended up playing for G2, but I always wanted to play for NAVI. It turned out that I’m now playing in an international team, G2," he said in an interview on the "Okko Cyber" YouTube channel.

"It happened that there wasn’t an opportunity to play in NAVI's main roster. I think it’s actually great that I made the decision I did. Most young players are afraid of making the wrong choice. If I had turned down the chance to play for G2 at that time, because it’s in English, it’s stressful, it’s intense, and you don’t know what’s going to happen, I might have missed out. I chose to take on that challenge. I think I did well and improved a lot."

Osipov also spoke about Danil "donk" Kryshkovets. He shared the advice he gave to the Team Spirit player.

"He’s a good guy. I talked to him, he’s doing well. I understand that some people react strangely to the way he shouts at LAN events. I don’t mind it. I only had some doubts when we played together at IEM Katowice 2024, and he was shouting some nasty stuff. I remember I advised him... You see clips on YouTube where he’s shouting. I just advised him to express himself differently because people are all different, and some might write nasty comments. But it’s just the game, emotions. I think it’s fine."

Recently, Ilya also commented on his team’s victory over NAVI in the final of BLAST Premier Fall Final 2024 and shared his thoughts on winning another MVP title at the tournament.
