Johnny Speeds is currently the highest-ranked team in Sweden, having played all year without organisational support. However, the situation may soon change with the arrival of Hampus “hampus” Poser, loaned from BLEED, which has sparked interest from various organisations eager to sign the team.
This change is crucial not only for the players but also for the Swedish CS scene, as the team's potential could be significantly enhanced with the backing of a major sponsor.
Throughout the year, despite impressive results, Johnny Speeds has lacked stable financial resources, relying primarily on prize money, which totals around $54,608 shared among the players and coach.
Acquiring Hampus Poser marks a major advancement for the team, but draken noted that his addition has increased the cost of buying out and maintaining the roster. “With hampus coming in, a few organisations have shown interest, but we need to find one that can cover his buyout or arrange a loan,” he explained.
Hampus' contract with BLEED runs through 2025, complicating matters further. If it were set to expire in 2024, the team might have anticipated a lower buyout, but current conditions require greater funding.
In an interview, draken revealed that several organisations have expressed interest since Hampus joined, but his high buyout complicates negotiations. “With hampus, we’re worth more than we used to be,” he stated, emphasising the need for a serious investment.
Johnny Speeds is at a pivotal moment. If they can secure an organisation with sufficient financial backing, they could become a key player on the international stage, raising the bar for the Swedish scene as a whole.
