Hally: "What happened in Cologne is a fiasco"

Sergey "hally" Shavaev, the coach of Team Spirit, commented on his team's performance at the current BetBoom Dacha Belgrade Season 2 championship. In an interview with HLTV.org, Shavaev took responsibility for the team's failure at IEM Cologne 2024.

"I’m pleased that we’ve demonstrated solid CS, considering the issues we faced in Cologne. We lost confidence in each other, and that’s my fault for not overseeing some of the processes within the team, which affected our performance.

We had an open dialogue with everyone in the team, including management, and we reached a consensus on how to move forward to prevent a repeat of what happened at the previous event.

What happened in Cologne, which can only be described as a fiasco, occurred due to oversights on the part of management and myself. It’s my mistake that I allowed it to happen.

Leonid [chopper] is also right. Indeed, the players, including Leonid, struggled to figure out how to act in the situations they found themselves in.”

Hally also agreed that Team Spirit has a stability issue, which he attributes to the team’s age.

“Yes, of course. It’s closely related to the fact that we are a young team. Our average age is 21. Although zont1x and donk are progressing very quickly, they were playing in the academy just a year ago.

Yes, we have an experienced captain and two other more seasoned players, but when you play MR12 with a young team, it takes much more time to show a more stable performance."
