The first day of the major tournament, Thunderpick World Championship 2024 for Counter-Strike 2, has concluded, and we now know the first team to secure a playoff spot – 3DMAX.
In the first round of Group A, 3DMAX triumphed over Falcons (13:10 on Anubis, 13:9 on Nuke), while OG defeated Virtus.pro (10:13 on Dust2, 13:11 on Ancient, 13:5 on Anubis). Virtus.pro later eliminated Falcons from the tournament (13:9 on Mirage, 13:8 on Anubis), and 3DMAX bested OG (13:10 on Ancient, 13:11 on Inferno).
As a result, Falcons lost their debut tournament with the new roster, finishing in last place, which earned them no prize money. Aleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev ended the event with an average rating of 1.17.
It is worth noting that Thunderpick World Championship 2024 runs from 21 October to 3 November. The final two days of the tournament will take place at the LVL Arena in Berlin, Germany, while the remaining matches are being played online. The championship boasts a prize pool of $850,000.
