Ivan "F_1N" Kochugov, the coach of PARIVISION, has speculated on how G2 Esports might adjust their CS2 roster following the exclusion of Rasmus "HooXi" Nielsen. In comments to Metaratings.ru, he suggested that Nikola "NiKo" Kovač could be a candidate for the captain role.
"I think it was leading to this... Now there are options: either make NiKo the captain, or try to find a new one. We’ll see what G2 plans to do. They also need to reallocate CT positions between hunter/NiKo and malbsMd since malbsMd played either hunter's or NiKo's positions."
Kochugov noted that it's still uncertain what specific role G2 Esports is looking to fill as HooXi's replacement.
"We don't know who they're looking for. If NiKo becomes the captain, then JKS will likely be the anchor."
G2 announced HooXi's move to the bench on July 1. He had been with the club since August 2022, serving as the team captain throughout his tenure. Under his leadership, the team won BLAST Premier: World Final 2022, IEM Katowice 2023, and IEM Cologne 2023. Despite these successes, Nielsen never finished a tournament with a rating above 0.99 in 29 events with G2.
