ESL disqualifies five players for attempting to deceive organisers

The players of Perseverance's CS2 roster have received a temporary ban from all ESL FACEIT Group championships for attempting to deceive the administration of the ESL Challenger League Season 48. This announcement was made by the organisers on the official website.

The report states that Perseverance wanted to reschedule several matches and misled the organisers to justify their request. According to the Dust2.Us portal, the new player, Nelvin "nooz" Gonzalez, was unable to play on the day the team had two matches scheduled.

The exact reason remains unclear; however, it was likely not a valid excuse, since the team devised a scheme to persuade the organisers to postpone the matches. Another player, Corey "shutout" Freymark, created two fake screenshots: one showed an impending storm in his city on Apple Weather, and the other depicted an SMS from the local power company warning of a high likelihood of power outages due to the storm.

After verifying with Apple Weather, it was found that there was no severe weather forecast. Additionally, the SMS screenshot had a phone number that, upon investigation, belonged to another Perseverance member, Gabriel "Gabe" Shah.

Following the investigation, the league administration decided to disqualify the roster from ESL Challenger League Season 48. Furthermore, all team members received a two-month ban from all ESL FACEIT Group tournaments. Shortly after the verdict was published, Perseverance announced that they had terminated the players' contracts and would be seeking a new roster.

Former Perseverance roster:

- John "mds" Marlin

- Gabriel "Gabe" Shah

- Colin "CoJoMo" Moran

- Corey "shutout" Freymark

- Nelvin "nooz" Gonzalez
