Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski, a player from the North American team Complexity, evaluated the team's results in 2024. In an interview with HLTV.org, Jablonowski remarked that the team frequently loses rounds they should be winning.
"We've had a very tough year. I think overall, the results aren't what we would have liked them to be. We haven't made it to the playoffs at many tournaments and have been knocked out during the group stages. It's frustrating. We need to get back to our previous level. We need to continue building our game gradually, working on the basics, and winning more rounds that are already in our hands. If we just play the time and the round correctly, we'll win.
And then we'll start feeling better because when you lose so many heartbreaking rounds in every match, at every tournament... It feels like in every series there are millions of these moments where you think, 'Wow, how did we lose that?' It takes a toll mentally. We need to work on this, and then things will improve."
EliGE also shared the expectations he and his teammates had coming into IEM Cologne 2024. According to him, the team's minimum goal for the tournament is to finish in the top six.
"For me, it would be enough just to make it to the playoffs. That was my minimum goal, especially considering how the year started when we didn't even make it to the playoffs. So I think we just need to reassess our expectations... We haven't been that consistent semi-final team since the beginning of CS2. Now we need to go back to basics, make sure we're not losing those 5v3, 5v2 rounds, and make it to the playoffs. It's been a long time since I was in the playoffs in Cologne. I'd like to make it there. I'd like the guys to experience it as well because it's an incredible stage. And the fans are always amazing. And yes, I think it would be a great experience."
Complexity began their IEM Cologne 2024 campaign with a 2-0 victory over ALTERNATE aTTaX. To advance to the group stage, the team will need to defeat Eternal Fire today.
