Astralis player Nicolai "device" Reedtz commented on his team’s opening win against NAVI in their debut match at the BLAST Premier World Final 2024 in Singapore. In an interview with HLTV.org, the Danish esports athlete shared that he and his teammates entered the tournament with modest expectations regarding their performance.
"It’s a great feeling. Before the tournament, we didn’t set our sights too high in terms of results, but we managed to put into practice many aspects we’d discussed about our play style. So yes, it’s very satisfying.
For most teams, this tournament is an opportunity to assess their level, identify areas for improvement, and gauge their readiness for the major. A good result here is simply a positive indicator, but it’s important to stay focused. It’s just a best-of-three win, and there’s still much to test and evaluate regarding what works and what doesn’t.
I think it changes the situation a bit. Now we have a chance to play for a spot in the semi-finals, not just survival, which means we’ll have two more matches to serve as excellent practice and preparation for the RMR. If we can beat NAVI and play with the same consistency we showed, then we can certainly challenge other teams here. What’s crucial for us is to stick to the goals we’ve set as a team – how we want to play, how to respond, and how to conduct ourselves in and out of the game. If we can replicate this, as we did, I believe we’ll be a formidable opponent."
The BLAST Premier World Final 2024 runs from 30 October to 3 November in Singapore, with a prize pool of one million USD to be divided among eight teams. Astralis will face MOUZ, 31 October, in the match for a spot in the semi-finals.
