Professional commentator Travis "Trav" Landaw Mott, following the announcement that the first Olympic Games in esports will be held in Saudi Arabia in 2025, decided to create lineups for 43 national teams.
In his opinion, Counter-Strike 2 will likely be featured at the Olympics, so he compiled a list of players for the national teams. According to him, the first place in the tournament will be taken by the Russian national team, which includes: m0NESY, donk, chopper, FL1T, and Electronic. The second place will go to Turkey, and the third to Ukraine.
An hour after publishing the lineups, he made community-suggested edits and changed some lineups, namely:
- Added Bymas and dziugss for Lithuania
- Appointed GuardiaN as coach for Slovakia
- Added ReFuZR for the Netherlands
- Added Banjo for Finland
- Appointed spray as coach for Israel
- Appointed Tomkeejs as coach for the Czech Republic and M1key for Slovakia
- Appointed zews as coach for Brazil
The community's reaction was disheartening, as it's unlikely that CS2 will be at the Olympics, and these matches would have been interesting to watch. However, tournament organisers have events spread throughout the year, leaving no week free from competitions.
