Founded in 2003, the German esports club ALTERNATE aTTaX has announced the suspension of its Counter-Strike 2 division. The announcement was made on the organization's X social media page.
The current roster of ALTERNATE aTTaX for CS2 will continue to compete under the existing tag until the end of the year. However, according to the official statement, the organization will continue to support players from its academy and plans to return to the discipline in the future.
Several factors have been cited for this decision, including financial difficulties, an unfavourable environment within the Counter-Strike 2 ecosystem, and strategic changes within the organization itself.
Recently, the ALTERNATE aTTaX roster participated in the major LAN tournament IEM Cologne 2024 in Germany, where they finished in last place, earning $2,500 in prize money. Currently, the team holds the 64th position in the HLTV world ranking.
