A new wave of bans in CS2 on Reddit

The Reddit community has been buzzing following numerous reports of players being banned by the anti-cheat system in CS2 matches. Notifications via the Leetify platform indicating banned opponents have led to speculation about a new wave of bans or an update to VACNet 3.0.

In top comments, user CaraXJ suggested three possibilities: “This could be a wave of bans, a coincidence, or VACNet 3.0 being activated on more servers.” Some players have confirmed receiving multiple ban notifications in a single day. Jesarius remarked: “I’ve received 4-5 of these messages in the last 24 hours; it’s a wave.”

Leetify, which alerts players about opponent bans, was initially met with suspicion. User Worldly-Ocelot-3358 thought it might be a scam, but many have since found it useful for tracking match results and detecting unfair play.

While many players appreciate the anti-cheat efforts, others remain sceptical. User NoNameDD argued that ban waves merely prompt cheaters to adapt their programs: “Ban waves only help cheaters develop better cheats.” Conversely, The_Mormonator believes ban waves aid anti-cheat developers in improving protection: “Cheaters can’t immediately identify which exploits have been detected.”

Despite the new ban wave offering hope for a better gaming experience, opinions are divided. Some players believe Valve is effectively combating cheaters, while others view ban waves as a temporary fix. The community continues to monitor and discuss the effectiveness of anti-cheat measures.
