Falcons coach Danny "zonic" Sørensen commented on his team's performance last season. In an interview at the BLAST Premier Fall Groups 2024, the Dane noted that the Falcons' results have been underwhelming so far, but he already sees progress in the team's play.
"Let's be honest: last season wasn't very successful for us. I was hired to make the Falcons a prominent team and win trophies, and the level we showed last season was not high enough.
I think at ESL Jönköping I saw a light at the end of the tunnel for us. I don't mean to disrespect other teams, but this isn't the level we want to be at—we want to be much higher, but at least I saw improvements.
The first nine months at Astralis weren't the most successful either. Maybe it's related to the system we're building; it takes time to adapt.
Of course, I'm trying my best; no one wants to keep losing for the first 8-9 months of a team's existence. But I also believe that in modern Counter-Strike, you can't just put a team together and expect it to start winning immediately unless you have three or four of the best players in the world.
We're working on it, but something needs to change this season—we need to improve our results."
The Falcons secured a 2-0 victory over GamerLegion and advanced to the next round of the lower bracket in Group B, after falling to Astralis yesterday. On August 2, the Falcons will face the Danish team again in a match for a spot in the final round of Group B at the BLAST Premier Fall Groups 2024.
