Woxic: "We play really good CS and understand each other well"
The sniper for Eternal Fire, Özgür "woxic" Eker, shared his thoughts on his team's defeat to Astralis in their opening match of the group stage at IEM Rio 2024, as well as reflecting on Eternal Fire's performance in previous tournaments. The Turkish esports player gave his insights in an interview with HLTV.org.
"After the match against Astralis, we simply focused on our mistakes. As I mentioned earlier, perhaps it was because it was a BO1 format. In a BO3, we might have won after losing the first map. But after we discussed our mental errors, we talked about them enough, and that's why we came out and showed some good Counter-Strike and team play in the next match against G2.
Recently, we've been playing good Counter-Strike, and we understand each other well. Our game plan and strategies are working very effectively at the moment. Individually, the players are performing at a high level too, so if we keep going like this, I think we'll continue having similar games and might even win the tournament.
This is our main goal, but unfortunately, we lost at ESL Pro League and BetBoom Dacha. We want to win, and in my opinion, we deserve it, but of course, our opponents also deserve victory. Whoever performs better on the day will take home the trophy. Hopefully, we'll see the arena and lift the trophy ourselves."
Eternal Fire convincingly defeated G2 in the lower bracket of Group B at IEM Rio 2024. G2 was eliminated from the championship, while Eternal Fire advanced to the next stage, where they faced The MongolZ but were ultimately defeated.
