Valve set deadlines for issuing invites to tournaments in 2025

The developers of Counter-Strike 2 have introduced another change to the new tournament regulations, which will come into effect next year.

According to the new rule, tournament organisers will be required to announce the list of invited teams no more than two months before the start of the championship. This means that organisers will have to finalise all matters related to qualifying tournaments, visas, and travel arrangements within this eight-week window.

Some members of the CS2 community have already criticised this decision by Valve, calling for a reconsideration. In particular, the General Manager of Complexity urged the developers to extend this timeframe to 12-16 weeks, allowing tournament organisers to more easily host events in countries where obtaining visas is more challenging.

Previously, the Counter-Strike 2 developers added a regulation concerning team disqualifications from championships, following the controversy involving Joel "joel" Holmlund. This regulation allows organisers to implement rules that permit the exclusion of players who have been caught or are suspected of various infractions.
