Everyone (even Elektronic!) hates the VP style. And why?
"The Most Irritating Opponent"
Virtus.pro's style irritates opponents – primarily, their rivals. They genuinely hate playing against Jame.
"The Saddest Way to Play CS"
Sdy:
"Honestly, [Virtus.pro's style] is probably the saddest way to play CS. When you play against this team, you feel like both you and your opponents are dying inside. I would never play like that; I like to enjoy the game. Even during our last match against them, we knew perfectly well what to do against them, how they would play, but we just didn't have the strength to finish it."
Xizt:
"Jame is probably the most irritating opponent for me. There are no easy rounds to take against his team. He always has money, which gives him an advantage."
Apex:
"Killing Jame while he saves may be better than winning a trophy."
Electronic (yes, indeed!):
"Virtus.pro has a very slow, annoying style. I hate it."
So why isn't Virtus.pro loved?
Professionals partially explained.
VP plays a slow CS, where every detail is calculated. Gooey and tedious – that's Virtus.pro. They'll crawl around the map until the last moment and only then move onto the site. The main problem, as it seems, for opponents – they get tired. It's just physically and mentally exhausting to endure and wait round after round; not to rush and not to go looking for frags because VP will definitely punish every hasty push. Jame, like the rest of Virtus.pro, loves to save, and this extends games even longer and tires opponents even more. Perhaps VP is the first team to demonstrate such a phenomenon as a 5v5 save. Even in this, there is logic: HP is lost, and the exit is choked, so why just rush out and try to take a round that only a miracle will save? Virtus.pro is synonymous with academic CS, and textbook play. And for this – not only for the highlights of M0nesy, the antics of Niko, and the lethal exits of Donka – you can and should also admire. VP's style is often called boring – both to watch and to play. But you know who else was spoken about the same way? Prime Astralis.
