Twistzz on ultimate: "He can play with a rifle and an AWP, he has no ceiling"
The captain of Team Liquid, Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken, shared the expectations he and his teammates had upon arriving in Cologne for IEM Cologne 2024. In an interview with HLTV, the Canadian esports player mentioned that the team isn’t setting any major goals and is simply trying to play Counter-Strike.
"Honestly, we’re just taking it map by map, match by match, until something clicks. At BLAST, there were no expectations. Even when we beat NAVI, there wasn’t any real pressure to win the second match; I just wanted us to play well. It’s the same here.
I just want us to play good CS, and we’re taking it game by game. If we lose, we’ll work on becoming stronger. If we win, we’ll still keep working and improving while maintaining team spirit. But yeah, I’m not trying to set any crazy expectations for this tournament. Game by game, and maybe you’ll see us in the arena."
Twistzz also commented on his new teammate, Roland "ultimate" Tomkowiak. In Van Dulken’s opinion, the Polish player has great potential.
"Given that he can play with both a rifle and an AWP, there’s no limit for him. I think the main thing is to ensure that in my system and what I’m creating, there’s always something new and fresh for him, and that he understands the control and influence he has in the team. I believe he can only grow and move forward, and it’s our task as well to keep him on this path and help him improve."
Liquid defeated FURIA 2-1 in the Play-In stage at IEM Cologne 2024, advancing to the group stage of the championship. Before that, the team comfortably overcame paiN in the first round of the tournament bracket.
