Twistzz on Liquid's New Roster: "Winning Teams Aren't Made Overnight"

Liquid player Russell "Twistzz" Van Dulken commented on his transition to the role of team captain. In an interview with Pley.gg, Van Dulken noted that becoming an in-game leader was inevitable for him, though he did not expect it to happen so soon.

"It feels like becoming captain was inevitable for me. This thought had been on my mind since the end of 2023, and I knew that at some point, this would be the right direction for me. But I didn’t expect it to happen so soon. Discussions about the captaincy took place before all the changes."

The Canadian esports professional also shared his views on the prospects of the revamped Liquid roster. Twistzz hinted that fans should not expect instant results from the team.

"This is a long-term project. That’s the whole point of bringing in a young sniper, and jks is the kind of player who will improve over time. But everyone shares the vision that we’re here for the long haul. You know, winning teams aren’t built overnight; it took me a year of losses in FaZe before we made the right changes. But I’m proud to be trying to help the organisation get back on the path to victory."

The debut of the new Liquid roster will take place at the BLAST Premier Fall Groups 2024, held in Copenhagen from July 29 to August 4 with 16 teams participating. Today, the team will face Virtus.pro in their opening match of Group D. The prize pool for the event is $190,000.
