Thorin about Dust 2: “The map does not fit into modern competitive CS at all”

CS2 analyst Duncan "Thorin" Shields discussed the return of Dust 2 to the competitive map pool. He believes that the map is outdated and doesn't fit modern gameplay realities.

"Valve doesn't balance the game around the professional scene. They don't think things like, 'The game has become too T-sided' or 'We have too many fragger maps.' Developers don't even know what that means. They just think Dust 2 is a cool map and care about casual players.

It's an iconic map for all of Counter-Strike. But I don't understand why they're bringing it back if you're trying to evolve. The problem is that it doesn't fit into modern competitive Counter-Strike."

Valve changed the competitive map pool in the update on April 26. The patch also reintroduced the "Patrol" feature and the ability to switch active hands.

Previously, Virtus.pro captain Jame commented on the return of Dust 2 to the competitive map list. The player was pleased with the rotation but disappointed about having to learn the new location.
