Representatives from FACEIT have announced the third season of CS2 Matchmaking on their platform. It will run from July 4th to November 10th. Players in Europe, North America, and South America will compete to earn ranking points. The top ten players from each region at the end of the season will receive a cash prize.
To kick off the new competitive season, FACEIT has introduced several improvements. Similar to before, organisers initiated a soft Elo reset, but this time it applies only to players with 2,800 points or more.
Additionally, this new season imposes stricter penalties for players who abandon matches. If their team wins, they will receive 50% less Elo than before, and if they lose, they will lose twice as much rating. Team members who remain after a player leaves will also lose half as much Elo in case of a defeat, provided they are not in a group with the violator.
FACEIT has also implemented changes aimed at enhancing the matchmaking experience for groups. Friends who wish to play together but have a certain Elo gap will find it easier to raise their rating as a party throughout the season.
The previous season of FACEIT CS2 Matchmaking concluded on July 1st. In Europe, the top spot was claimed by Danil "donk" Kryshkovets from Team Spirit, with a total of 4,830 Elo points.
