The community criticised Valve for the latest CS2 update
Reddit users have reacted negatively to the latest update in Counter-Strike 2, where developers added more than 66 weapon skins and introduced a Battle Pass-like system. Gamers expressed disappointment with Valve's behaviour, criticising the company for neglecting the state of the game and focusing solely on profiting from weapon skins.
One user commented, "Sorry, but adding 100 skins is not cool. I was hoping for a real update, like new maps, game modes, an actual operation with quests, etc. It feels like Valve just wants to make more money and doesn't care about CS. It's silly that after nearly three months without a significant update, this is all they've added. At least we got a decent animation and network update."
Another user, Tristezza, suggested that developers of other games would have addressed CS2's issues much faster. "Honestly, this looks pathetic. 'Hey guys, we know you want some maps back and a proper anti-cheat system. So here’s 100 new skins and a Battle Pass you can buy five times for $90!' Right now, Counter-Strike 2 is a skin and gambling market, hiding a half-alive game. Many say the model animations update is good, but we shouldn't celebrate what any other developer would have fixed in a week."
User Perfectperfectzly pointed out that Valve only seems to respond to problems when popular content creators highlight them. "It's funny how the developers only fix issues after someone makes a video about it. They reacted quickly to Mauisnake’s video, where he showed that the models were still awkward. Animations weren't fixed until the video came out. I think Valve just watches YouTube videos to check if there are any problems in the game."
Meanwhile, Clizana recalled previous events in CS, noting that, "Developers need to fund the games they care about, like Dota 2 and Deadlock. I remember when operations were fun because there was a specific game mode that rewarded you if you paid a certain amount. Now we just get cases in this gambling mess called a Battle Pass. Most gamblers buy five passes to get more keys to open even more cases. Madness."
On 3 October, the Arsenal Pass was added to the game, allowing players to earn in-game currency, which can be exchanged for items. Charms that can be attached to weapons were also introduced in CS2. More details about the patch can be found in the update notes.
