Team Spirit's Head of Marketing, Konstantin Machaidze, gave an explanation for the team's decision to turn down an offer to compete in the Counter-Strike 2 Fall IEM Rio 2024 Championship. The club spokesman claims that the team is forced to miss some tournaments due to an excessively full schedule. On the social media platform X, he posted this.
EWC, BLAST Groups, Cologne, Dacha, Pro League (group stage & play-offs), and Fall Finals are all part of this season. That only covers July, August, and September. Thirteen days without any competitions. We try to control the athletes' levels of weariness, since we don't think this is a healthy timetable."
Some days ago, the teams that were directly invited to IEM Rio 2024 were revealed by the tournament organizers, ESL. There will be sixteen teams competing in the championship, which will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from October 7–13, 2024. The prize money up for grabs is a quarter of a million dollars. A place at IEM Katowice 2025 will be awarded to the winner.
