Team Spirit – G2

The major LAN tournament, Esports World Cup 2024, continues in Riyadh, where the first day of play has determined seven of the eight playoff participants. The final spot in the decisive stage will be contested in the Play-In stage.

In the Play-In quarterfinals, the matchups are JiJieHao (#201) vs. Sashi (#39), The MongolZ (#8) vs. MIBR (#19), M80 (#28) vs. Complexity (#9), and FlyQuest (#26) vs. FURIA (#17). The semifinals and final will also be played later today.

However, the key matchup of the day will be between Team Spirit (#1) and G2 (#4), both of whom secured playoff spots yesterday. According to the Esports World Cup 2024 schedule, the first quarterfinal will be played at 21:00 MSK, immediately following the conclusion of the Play-In stage.

In their opening match, the "Dragons" proved their status as the world's leading team by crushing MIBR (13:4 on Nuke and 13:3 on Vertigo). While the Brazilians were not considered equal opponents, this result still indicated that Team Spirit is in top form and aiming to win their first trophy of the season.

The revamped G2 roster debuted with a hard-fought victory over The MongolZ. Although the European team won the match 2:0, both maps were extremely close (13:11 on Ancient and 16:13 on Inferno), which may suggest a lack of cohesion in the roster following the double roster change, including the captain.
