Team Spirit analyst about IEM Cologne 2024

Analyst for Team Spirit in Counter-Strike 2, Anatoly "Clife" Averkov, discussed the reasons behind their loss to G2 Esports at IEM Cologne 2024 and the challenges of playing against Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov's team in 2024. He shared his insights in an interview for the EzPz Podcast.

"Previously, we faced G2 at BLAST Premier: Spring Final 2024, where TaZ played instead of m0NESY. G2 frequently makes substitutions from match to match.

Initially, it was TaZ, then at EWC, we had Snax and malbsMd. The point is, when you change players, your game slightly shifts. And with G2, even the captain changed, so their approach to the game was entirely different.

When we faced them with TaZ, there was no sniper in the team, and it was unclear how they would play. It was challenging to approach them from an analytical perspective and prepare for the match.

The same happened at EWC: they changed HooXi and brought in malbsMd. It was tough to base anything on because there was no demo of this lineup.

At IEM Cologne 2024, there were things we could use as a reference, but I wouldn’t say that G2 outplayed us. I would say that we lost to them."

Team Spirit lost to G2 Esports with a score of 0-2, winning only four rounds across two maps. As a result, Team Spirit exited IEM Cologne 2024, finishing in 13-16 place and earning $10,000.
