STYKO is now a free agent

The Slovakian rifler enters the player market without being tied to a contract.

Apeks has officially announced the departure of Martin "STYKO" Styk, granting the rifler free agent status effective immediately.

"I feel a sense of relief," STYKO expressed in a video on his YouTube channel. "It's like I'm leaving a sinking ship."

STYKO initially lost his spot on the roster last October but was later reinstated in an attempt to secure a position at the inaugural CS2 Major. Despite the team's efforts, they finished with a 1-3 record in the Opening Stage.

STYKO had set a condition to remain with Apeks, requiring roster changes. However, as this condition was not met, he opted to terminate his contract extension, which was slated to run until the end of the season.

"Even if we had won ESL Challenger Melbourne, I would still be leaving," he mentioned in the video, available for viewing below.

This marks the conclusion of a partnership spanning over two years, during which STYKO witnessed the emergence of talents like Damjan "kyxsan" Stoilkovski and Justinas "jL" Lekavicius, playing under the guidance of coaches Jakub "kuben" Gurczyński and Torbjørn "mithR" Nyborg.

The pinnacle of his tenure with Apeks was the semi-final run at the BLAST.tv Paris Major, thrusting the team into the limelight, though replicating such success has proven challenging.

Looking ahead, STYKO remains eager to compete, confident in his ability to contribute to tier one and tier two teams with his experience, skills, and professionalism.
