Stewie2K: "I know for sure that this is not the last time you see me"

American esports player Jake "Stewie2K" Yip reflected on his current form in Counter-Strike 2. In an interview with Dust2.us, Yip stated that he hasn't noticed any significant changes in the meta during his absence from the competitive CS scene.

"When you do something for so long, seven or eight years, you can't just forget everything or completely discard what you once knew. Even when I watch CS or practice with G2, nothing surprises me. Nothing radical has changed in the meta over the past few years.

I think it comes down to experience, making the right decisions, and understanding the overall picture of what teams are trying to do now. In the match against MOUZ, at a certain point, everything just clicked, and I started to understand things as if I had never left. It's all about getting back into the rhythm."

Stewie2K also addressed whether he plans to remain on the professional scene after IEM Dallas 2024, where he is standing in for G2.

"It's hard to say. I wouldn't say I'm trying to leave or put CS behind me. I think I want to stay in the scene, but at the same time, I need to take care of myself.

I need to focus on other things outside of CS first and make sure everything is good business-wise before I can move forward and influence other people on the team. I'd say I'm back for now, but at the same time, don't expect anything from me. <...>

Honestly, I'll say one thing. I'm very grateful that after two years of my absence, my name is still out there, and people are still talking about me, whether it's good or bad. I really appreciate that. I know for sure this isn't the last time you'll see me."

To recall, the American had been inactive since 2022. At the Dallas tournament, he is replacing team captain Rasmus "HooXi" Nielsen, who could not attend the event due to personal reasons.
