Snax: "I'm happy and upset at the same time"
G2's captain, Janusz "Snax" Pogorzelski, commented on the defeat to NAVI in the Esports World Cup 2024 final. In an interview with HLTV.org, Pogorzelski expressed his satisfaction with his team's performance, noting that they had limited time to prepare for the tournament.
"I am happy yet disappointed, as losing in the final is always unpleasant. I can say that I have very positive impressions of the team, how we play, the quality of our players, and their understanding of the game. I did not expect to reach the final. I thought we could show good CS, but as we started winning game after game, and in good style, we began to believe in ourselves even more and perhaps even considered ourselves favourites. Maybe that was a slight issue.
We did not have much time to prepare; I had not played Inferno for a couple of years, so it was not easy for me. But I would say that from this point on, if we have a bit more time, I can implement everything I want on the server, and we will have more tools because we played each map four or five times before the tournament, mostly four, so obviously, that is not extensive preparation. I felt a bit stressed in the final moments. Overall, I can say that I am satisfied."
The Polish esports player also discussed his goals for the new season and evaluated the potential of G2's current roster.
"My main goal is to showcase everything I can as a captain on the server, good strategies and decisions. To play in as many finals as possible and to win as much as possible. This has always been my career goal; I want to win everything, no matter what. I will try my best and focus on victory. I do not want to find myself in the same situation as in this tournament; I could have taken charge on Nuke, I could have taken charge a bit on Inferno. I was not as decisive as before on other maps, but I think this is a process we need to go through.
I believe we have really good potential with the players we have now; we just need a bit more time playing together. So, my goal is to lead these guys. It would be really great to win a major again with TaZ, as well as with NiKo and all the other guys. So yes, my goal is to win."
The Esports World Cup 2024 took place from 17 to 21 July in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. The event's prize pool was one million US dollars.
