Ropz on CS2: "I think the game will be great by 2030"
FaZe player Robin "ropz" Koli reflected on his team’s performance in the current season of the ESL Pro League for Counter-Strike 2, noting that they were eliminated by Complexity in the first round of the playoffs, finishing in 13th-16th place. The Estonian esports athlete shared his thoughts in an interview with BLAST.tv.
"I’m disappointed; we had a bootcamp between the group stage and the playoffs. It was very productive, and we focused on playing more and accumulating hours. We made progress, but Complexity performed better than us in the first playoff match. There were also some unfortunate circumstances: most of us caught the flu. That’s not an excuse, just to provide a fuller picture of what we had to deal with."
Ropz also expressed his views on the current state of Counter-Strike 2. He specifically lamented the game’s net code, noting that CS:GO performed better in this regard.
"I’ve been critical of the sub-tick since day one, since March 2023, when CS2 was announced and its beta was released. I think it’s fair to say that this aspect is disappointing, as the net code of CS:GO felt better. They could still switch to 128-tick servers, which might improve the situation. The FPS issue is significant as well; transitioning from tournament to tournament can be difficult when you don’t have the best PCs.
The game is fine when compared to past transitions, like when CS:GO was released. But I feel Valve could do much better.
I’m not sure, but I think by 2030, the game will be great."
In one of his earlier interviews, Robin addressed the jokes in the community about his statistics declining after purchasing an expensive sports car—earlier this year, the Estonian esports athlete became the owner of a 2024 Porsche 911 Turbo S.
