Archer Wang, Senior Director of Esports at Perfect World, revealed in an interview with HLTV that the company aims to attract as much audience from Asia to Counter-Strike as possible. According to him, hosting the Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024 in China will contribute to this process."We have always wanted to host a Major in China. It was supposed to happen several years ago, but due to COVID, it didn't. The Major is important for the Asian market. Our goal is to attract more and more Asians, more and more Chinese to Counter-Strike.
When we hosted The International 2019 in China, after that tournament, the number of Chinese fans and Dota 2 players increased significantly. I think the same will happen with Counter-Strike."
It's worth noting that the Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024 will be the second Major for Counter-Strike 2 and will take place from December 1st to December 15th in Shanghai, China. The Valve World Championship will feature 24 teams from around the globe competing for a prize pool of $1.25 million.
