OverDrive believes there may be no Tier-1 captains left in Russia for CS2.
Aleksey "OverDrive" Birukov has expressed concerns that Russia might soon be left without any Tier-1 captains in CS2.
"Currently, apart from Chopper, there are no alternatives at the Tier-1 level [among captains]. There's a lack of emerging talent, or it's very minimal. We might be on the brink of a situation where, in a year or two, there will be no Tier-1 teams from Russia. It could turn out like what happened with Denmark about five years ago.
Spirit is the only team that's 100% fortunate. Chopper is a fully-fledged Tier-1 captain without any questions. As for Virtus.pro, if we consider Jame, he's in a crisis, and things are quite grim there. He hasn't adapted to the CS2 meta, which is why the results are so poor.
BetBoom’s NaFany has long been criticised for being inconsistent and unable to control the game in official matches. He plays reasonably well, but has occasional failures. However, he currently plays at the Tier-2 level.
I still don’t fully believe in Boombl4 as a Tier-1 captain. He’s a good player in terms of understanding and experience, but Tier-1 captaincy... Okay, we’ll keep him in the brackets for now. Let's see how he performs in this run," OverDrive shared.
