The insider and scout Alexey "OverDrive" Biryukov commented on Team Spirit's disappointing performance at the IEM Cologne 2024 tournament in Germany. Biryukov believes the team needs to identify the reasons for their failure. He shared his thoughts on his personal Telegram channel.
He expressed his confusion over what happened to Team Spirit, stating that this will be the main issue for the team to address soon. He warned that if they fail to pinpoint the cause of this poor showing and simply proceed with standard preparations for the next tournament, there is a high likelihood that what happened in Cologne could happen again. He admitted that he honestly doesn’t know what went wrong.
Team Spirit lost two consecutive matches in the group stage of IEM Cologne 2024 and exited the competition, finishing in 13th-16th place. In the upper bracket, they were defeated by The MongolZ, followed by another loss to G2 in the lower bracket. Both matches ended with a 0-2 scoreline. The team earned $10,000 in prize money at the tournament.
