Nouns defeated NRG, securing an invitation to the Shanghai RMR

Following an exceptional three-map series, Nouns have secured their spot in the Americas RMR after defeating NRG. They are only the second team to book their place in China, joining Wildcard, who had previously overcome BOSS earlier in the day.

Both NRG and Nouns are looking to improve upon their previous RMR performance, where they exited the PGL CS2 Major Copenhagen 2024 Americas RMR without a win. While Nouns have already confirmed their qualification, NRG will advance if they win their next match, avoiding the 4th/5th place decider.

The series commenced on Anubis, chosen by NRG. Although NRG struggled on the CT side initially, they managed to recover, with Nouns heading into halftime with a 7-5 score after leading 7-3 at one stage. NRG levelled the score at 7-all before Nouns reached 10, and then Timothy "automatic" Ta stepped up, leading NRG to a 13-10 victory and taking the series lead.

Nouns responded strongly with their Ancient pick. The DAO-backed team started the map with a 6-0 lead on the T-side and switched to the CT-side with a 10-2 advantage. NRG won the pistol round and three additional rounds, but Nouns sealed the map with a 13-6 win to level the series.

Continuing their impressive performance, Nouns started the Mirage decider with a 6-1 lead. Although NRG managed to close the gap to 6-5, Nouns maintained a 7-5 lead going into the second half. NRG won the second-half pistol round and two more rounds to take an 8-7 lead, but Nouns showcased another strong T-side performance to secure a 13-9 win and the series victory.

As a result, Nouns have secured their tickets to China, while NRG will face the highest-seeded team advancing from the 1-1 bracket Bo3 series, which includes teams such as Legacy and Party Astronauts. These two teams, along with six others, will compete in the next elimination series.
