Nikolay Petrosyan explained under what conditions he would name the exact cost of the electroNic transfer

Virtus.pro's CEO, Nikolay Petrosyan, shared details about the transfer of Denis "electroNic" Sharipov from Cloud9's CS2 roster. In an interview with HLTV.org, he also revealed the condition under which the transfer fee will be disclosed.

According to Petrosyan, negotiations proceeded swiftly and professionally, taking only five days for the entire process.

"We weren't particularly dissatisfied with the team's performance or current form, although we failed to advance to the playoffs in Copenhagen. It wasn't the outcome we hoped for, but prior to that, everything was satisfactory for us at BLAST and RMR.

After the Major, we suddenly learned about the options available on the market. That's how transfers work in esports — if there's an opportunity, you should seize it because there's no such thing as a transfer window like in the NBA or European football. If there's a chance, you have to act on it immediately, or else the window of opportunity may close very soon. So when we learned about this option, we talked to Cloud9 and reached an agreement with the club in about five days. It was very fast, no bargaining or anything like that. We already had good relations with C9 because we had previously dealt with this organization when selling Buster in January 2023. That probably helped us too. They acted very promptly, and so did we, which is why we reached an agreement, and the rest was the technical details of the next steps.

I would like to express my gratitude to C9 because thanks to their proactive and gentlemanly approach, we were able to meet the deadline before ESL Pro League Season 19. So electroNic will play for us in Malta. We initiated it, but without the same motivation from C9, it would have been impossible to meet this deadline. I hope that such an approach to negotiations will become a standard for the esports industry. We're still a very, very young industry, and sometimes it's difficult for us to do business. For us, the whole process of working with C9 was very professional and results-oriented, and we appreciate that and express our gratitude to C9."

VP's leader noted that despite significant expenses, the club understands what the money was spent on and what result it should bring.

"We have an agreement with C9, and there are two sides to this deal, so I can't disclose exact figures. But if we reach an agreement with C9, we will publish the exact amount on Twitter; we have no problem with that.

Yes, it's a huge sum, and any speculation will be more or less accurate. We didn't spend money on electroNic's transfer; it was an investment — a completely different approach. We invested money in him and hope that they will not only return to us in the form of trophies but also change Virtus.pro's status as an organization. We're trying to be a global organization, and Counter-Strike is one of the most popular and best-disciplined in terms of professionalism.

CS2 is one of the best disciplines where organizations can count on a return on their investment. You can have long-term plans, and sign long-term contracts with players to understand how to recoup your investments. That's why we made the decision, for which we thank the club's owners, who agreed with this and approved our approach, to invest such a huge sum in electroNic. But we're quite confident that these investments will pay off for us both in terms of sport and business."

Virtus.pro announced the transfer of electroNic on April 15, replacing Nikolai "mir" Bityukov. The first tournament for the revamped lineup will be ESL Pro League Season 19, starting on April 23.
